TWELFTH NIGHT
After a sudden summer squall, twin campers wind up on the wrong side of the lake and find themselves at Camp Illyria! After getting separated in the storm, Viola and Sebastian must contend with lovestruck Administrators and Athletic Coaches, vivacious Accountants, Kitchen Staff that has to be seen to be believed, and the surliest “Camp Cheer Counselor” they could possibly imagine, all the while trying to meet back up with each other, and get back to where they came from! Their twisted and madcap journey of fun and discovery takes place this summer in:
Brooklyn at McCarren Park on July 14th
Queens at the Forest Park Bandshell on July 15th
Manhattan at Cherry Hill in Central Park on July 20th and 21st
The Bronx in Van Cortlandt Park on July 22nd

Character Breakdown

Viola – Junior Counselor. A quick witted, attractive, and terribly clever girl from across the Lake, Viola gets washed up on the shores of Camp Illyria at the start of the show. Her most amazing talent is how utterly kind and likeable she is despite being both very attractive and very smart, according to her friends.

Sebastian – Junior Counselor. Also washed up on shore at the top of the show, the attractive and well built brother of Viola, Sebastian is more physical than cerebral, and is just a touch slow on the uptake. Regardless, he is well liked, and has an easy camaraderie with those he meets, though he does have a slight temper…

Olivia – Owner/Operator. The daughter of the owner of Camp Illyria, she finds herself in charge, a position she never wanted, and beset by suitors, most notably Coach Orsino, all who want a piece of the Camp. Of course, it does not hurt that she both attractive and thoughtful, though somewhat…pent up by her responsibilities. Olivia has determined the best was to keep her social calendar free so she can try to run the camp is to tell everyone she remains in mourning for her recently departed father and uncle. It doesn’t often work, but she has an excellent, if dysfunctional support team!

Malvolio – Chief Morale Counselor/Party Planner/Administrator. Malvolio should not have anything to do with the first two parts of this job. Ever. A type A personality to the extreme, Malvolio dislikes fun, mirth, jokes, and basically anything that could be considered ‘frivolous’. Though hating the job, Malvolio is completely devoted to Olivia, and therefore is spectacular at it(the Campers adore, though the Staff loathes) The job has left a seething hatred of anyone enjoying themselves for ‘no good reason’. If it is a job for Malvolio, it should be for all others, as well.

Feste – Accountant/Ombudsman. Mr. Feste enjoys his job to the same degree Malvolio loathes his. Feste is a superb accountant, generally finishing his work and wandering Camp, telling jokes and singing silly songs to the campers, who find him excellent company. Feste has a laid back attitude, and can frequently be seen sneaking into the Dining Hall to visit Toby and Maria, along with whatever other employees are working at the time.

Toby Belch – Slacker cousin to Olivia, Toby likes fine drink, fine smoke, dancing, laughing and relaxing. Of course, this is at odds with his job as Head Cook and Dining Counselor, which causes friction with Olivia. Toby has a good heart though, and simply wants her to be happy…though keeping his easy job is always a motivation as well. He hates Malvolio with a passion, which is reciprocated. One of the few things that can motivate Toby is a plot to thoroughly make Malvolio miserable.

Orsino – Head of Athletics, Investor. Coach Orsino has been with Camp Illyria for a few years, and like it, both as a place of employment, and an opportunity. Orsino is somewhat vain, and hypermacho, though secretly has somewhat low self esteem. Of course, his Job as Head of Athletics precludes and of that from being obvious, but Orsino does have a sensitive soul. He has been hitting on Olivia since her father died, subtly at first, but more and more directly, as he would love to become a part owner of the Camp.

Curio- Assistant to Orsino. Curio is one of Orsino’s employees, and considers himself a good friend to his boss. Orsino agrees, at least, with the assessment that Curio is good at his job. Curio often finds himself overlooked at events, even though he organizes and runs most of Orsino’s day to day activities. He harbors no resentment for this, knowing the mercurial nature of his boss, and takes comfort in knowing that whenever the Favorite of the Month has vanished, he will still be there, and needed.

Antonio – Waterfront Instructor. Antonio takes his job a little too seriously, fancying himself a pirate, spending his days keeping the dock safe from ‘Landlubbers’. Antonio is not known too well to the rest of the Counselors, as he has kept to himself after a long term disagreement with Coach Orsino over who should run the Waterfront. Antonio is desperate for a friend of any kind, though his eccentric ways tend to make it hard sailing for him.

Maria- Secretary/Personal Assistant to Olivia. Maria is a young, opinionated free spirit. She manages to pull this off without being overbearing or simply annoying, which is no mean feat. She takes care of Olivia’s schedule, and also makes sure, unofficially, that things are running smoothly and happily at Camp. She has a not so secret crush on Toby that causes her to occasionally bend the rules for him. She dislikes Malvolio’s rigidity, but not to the point of outright rebellion. Usually.

Fabian- Junior Counselor. Fabian is in her first year working at Camp, and is loving every second. She has become fast friends with Maria, Toby, and Feste, though she has issues with Malvolio being nice to the kids, but nasty to the employees. Fabian is Maria’s go to girl when she needs thing done, and also will Girl Friday for Toby and Oliva if asked.

Andrew Aguecheek – Investor/Trust Fund Baby. Aguecheek is…not the brightest crayon in the box. He knows this, and is ok with it, as he tends to compensate for a lack of social graces by throwing parties and liquoring his ‘friends’ up. Tall, thin, and lanky, he can be seen wandering around the Camp in a daze, generally on a fool’s errand from Toby, who has convinced him that he has a shot at Olivia, and therefore a chance to gain a new property for his collection.
